About Nando's
The first Nando’s restaurant opened its doors in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then, the Nando’s flame has spread to 23 countries on five continents. From the very beginning, the founders wanted Nando’s to be more than chicken and profit. So much so that in the early days, our slogan was “have fun and then make money” but always in the right way, giving people opportunities and making a positive impact on their lives. The rest is history! Today, you can find Nando’s restaurants and our addictive grocery range all around the world.

Employee Testimonials
I've been with Nando's for three years now. I have had monumental personal and professional growth during this time. Nando's has seen my potential and encouraged me to develop by trusting me with increased responsibility. A "typical day" is never typical. There is always something challenging happening, yet every day is filled with new learning opportunities.

Employee Testimonials
I started my Nando’s journey 6 years ago and it’s been such an AMAZING experience for me both personally and professionally. I’ve worked for several different restaurant concepts over the years and I can tell you right now there is no place like Nando’s, period. Everything we do here is centered around our 1 core principle, PEOPLE!! Everybody here just wants to help each other unselfishly to become a better version of you!!! Nando’s truly means what they say by “Everyone Is Welcome.” It doesn’t matter who you are, if you have a positive can-do attitude Nando’s will teach you the skills. The benefits are off the chart for this industry from matching 401k, all types of health options, accruing sick and safe leave. Yes, that’s right I am so proud to say I have the best job in the world and can grow side by side with some of the smartest, caring people in the world. During the pandemic we kept our doors open to pay our people and feed hospital workers and first responders. That’s the kind of place I want to retire with, THANK YOU NANDO’S.

Employee Testimonials
The 40-hour manager work week has honestly been a huge relief for my team and I. Not only have we been able to get more peace of mind inside and outside of work, but we have also gotten a real look at a healthy work life balance. In the beginning when the idea was presented to us, I didn’t think it would honestly be possible especially working in Gaithersburg; however, with some guidance and really working on time management it has actually been an awesome few weeks.
I have been able to enjoy my life outside of work with being mentally drained, either from the day I just had at work or anticipating the next day. I have made plans with my husband to go out and enjoy dinner and a movie after work and/ or go for a hike or run before work.
The best part about it all is that not every shift is going to be an 8-hour shift sometimes you will have to stay and extra hour or so and pull that 10–12-hour shift just for the benefit of the restaurant; but there is a sense of relief in knowing that not everyday has to be “that long” you can have those short 8 hour shifts majority of the time.

Everyone is Welcome
Nando’s has always been committed to equality, justice, and the overall improvement of Nandocas’ livelihoods across the world. We created impact hiring partnerships with Project Generation and DC Central Kitchen to hire young people from underrepresented communities and provide them access to work where they would traditionally have been excluded. Our restaurant teams have worked to create a sense of belonging through our hiring and onboarding practices so everyone can feel welcomed.

Be the Best You
We aim to provide everyone with a platform to realize their full potential. The LEAD Career Ladder provides a path for our restaurant-based Nandocas. Starting at the hourly Nandoca level, the ladder climbs all the way up to the Area Director level, resulting in 8 levels of work.
No ordinary little word, LEAD stands for Learn, Explore, Achieve and Develop. It clarifies the criteria for advancing from one level of the ladder to the next and defines the work that must be done at each level. LEAD brings our values to life by detailing how we express them in our daily actions.

Fired up Work Experiences
We believe that work should be something that fires you up–and we are committed to creating experiences (big and small) to achieve this.
Everything from daily pre-shifts where we celebrate our values being lived to our legendary Indabas/conferences. With visible, authentic leaders we want our Nandocas to have pride in where they work and the food they serve–and for every day to be an extraordinary experience.

Benefits
At Nando’s, we want to be the most loved restaurant brand in North America, sharing the spirit of Nando’s PERi-PERi with everyone who chooses to access it. We lead with our values and act with care, compassion, and kindness.
By doing this, we will Change Lives Together, every day and everywhere. We have a global commitment to offer benefits that get you excited about joining our family, and to recognize and reward you for your hard work.

Be Part of More
At Nando’s we all believe that there is more to life than just our job and we want to come to work each day for more than just our daily wage. We are a global family, and what unites us is a desire to make a difference–for ourselves, for our local community and for those in very different life circumstances.
